Hi to all! Kevin and I are completely new to this Twitter stuff, but we thought we’d try it out!
Kevin and I grew up in Indiana and met in middle school where we only dated for about a month, but we always stayed good friends throughout high school.
Kevin joined the Marines and left on Sept 11, 2006, the fall after graduation. I went to a local business college. While on leave that next spring, Kevin and I started talking again and hanging out a lot. We decided to make it official that April. It was a LOONNNGGG 2 years apart.
Kevin deployed that next march, while I was away at basic and AIT for the National Guard. I tried to keep myself busy that summer with school, family and friends. In October, he returned safely (finally!!). I got to come down to Camp Lejeune, with his parents and visit for a week after he got back.
Throughout the next few months, Kevin was able to take leave to Indiana and visit occasionally. Although being apart most of our dating time was hard, I think it’s the reason why we are so close now. We value the time that we do have together so much because we know it might not last long.
Lets skip up to Memorial Day of 2009. We had been talking about getting married, and we both knew its what the Lord wanted, and we both felt ready. So that Saturday, he popped the question! We had gone out to dinner that night with my parents so that he could ask their permission first. But then, Kevin tricked me and told me he didn’t have the ring yet, but he wanted to ask them still. I believed him! Then he surprised me with the most gorgeous ring I’d ever seen! Everyone was thrilled for us! We both just seem to fit right into each others family, so that made it even better!
Orginally, we had the wedding planned for August 22 of that same year (not much time to plan!) but I soon found out that Kevin would be in California for training, so we had to either move it up, or wait a lot longer, because he was supposed to deploy in November also, soo...our decision: Move it up!!
We then, decided on July 3, only 3 weeks away (and I didn’t even have a dress yet!!!) We knew we were taken a chance, since it was July 4th weekend, but we were okay with that; we didn’t want to wait any longer, and plus, most people thought it was perfect! With both of us in the military, a patriotic wedding was just the thing for us!
And so, it went off without a hitch! 2 days after the wedding, he had to go back to North Carolina, and I was finally going with him! To save on money, we are rooming with another couple, in a gorgeous beach house! It's a block away from the water and so very very pretty!! We went to highschool with Scott (the others we are staying with), and he got stationed here also, about the same time Kevin did. He met his wife at the beginning of 2009, and was married the week after Kevin and I!
So far, married life has been better than I’d ever thought!
We’ll keep you all updated on our latest adventures! Stay tuned!!
Love, Kevin & Evie
